2017 PRIZE WINNER
Professor David L. Callies is the Benjamin A. Kudos Professor of Law at the University of Hawaii at Manoa William S. Richardson School of Law.
Professor Callies’ distinguished work on the regulation of property rights for development include Bargaining for Development (2003), Preserving Paradise (1994), and Regulating Paradise (1984). He has also published a casebook, Cases and Materials on Land Use (2008).
Professor Callies is a prolific author who publishes books, articles, and blog posts on a regular basis. He is an active influence shaping the law for practitioners through amicus briefs and participation on the American Law Institute’s committee for the Fourth Restatement of Property.
Professor Callies has built and maintains an effective bridge between the academy and the practicing bar with his focus on improving the law to enhance the protections for private property.
